When shopping around for power tools which have multi-purpose utility, the Rockwell RK3440K is an excellent choice to add to your tool chest. This circular saw is so versatile it can perform a host of similar tasks that would normally require the usage of multiple tools. Its compact, lightweight design makes it easy to handle with one handed operation. Weighing in at around four pounds, this circular saw is extremely rugged and will cut through wood with ease. It also accomplishes the task of cutting through tile, aluminum sheets and will even slice sheet metal. Equipped with a four ampere motor turning at 3500 revolutions per minute (RPM), the Rockwell RK3440K, wields enough power to cut through materials without heating up. It sports an efficient and balanced frame for single hand operation.
Rockwell RK3440K Pros:
It comes with three 3 3/8″ blades for cutting metal, wood and ceramic tile. Two Allen head bolts for removing/replacing the blades. There is a parallel guide, a nozzle for dust extraction and a no mar skid plate. It is accompanied by a bag to hold all the accompaniments. It is equipped with a powerful 4 Amp rear mounted motor that operates at 3500 rpm. The ergonomics of this tool are great from it’s over molded grip to its light weight of 4 lbs. There is a safety catch on the trigger which protects the blade from protruding. This allows the saw to be adjusted to a maximum 1 1/16th cutting depth. It is equipped with a laser guide, powered by two flat, watch type, batteries. As expected from a quality product from Rockwell, it is clear to see and aligned perfectly with the blade. The Rockwell RK3440K is covered by a 2 year warranty.
Rockwell RK3440K Cons:
Rockwell has been making power tools for some time now and has pretty much excelled in features, so it is very hard to find faults in their products. However there are some points that they could improve upon. The biggest disadvantage the Rockwell RK3440K has is angled cuts. It simply cannot perform them as the parallel guide is fixed and has no adjustment for angle. It would also be nice if the laser is powered by the AC power too. Sometimes it is frustrating to start a task, just to find out that the batteries are dead.

I bought the Rockwell RK3440K circular saw for my brother as a gift and just as I was about to gift wrap it; I decided to try it out so that I would not face any unpleasant surprises. Two hours went by before I realized how much fun I was having using this tool. I actually tried out all the blades and was surprised when I went through various materials, doing some long postponed chores along the way, with the same tool. The only drawback I came across was when I needed to make an angular cut on a wood board, only to discover that this tool is not designed for this. I decided to add it to my tools closet and went out and bought two more, one for my brother and one for my Dad, who is also a tool nut. Way to go Rockwell, another great tool for the home user. Now if they would only add angle cutting to this marvelous machine it would be perfect.
The Rockwell RK3440K is an extremely versatile power tool for the multiple tasks it accomplishes. It is an offering from a long line of excellent power tools from a manufacturer that actually listens to users on what they want for specific tasks. The fact that it is lightweight and has a grip for a single hand would benefit so many home users who were always calling out to a friend to hold the material while they cut it. The powerful motor never misses a beat and does not heat up on constant usage. Users normally required three different cutting saws for wood, tile and metal each. This many in one just requires you to switch blades, which is a cinch. The addition of the Rockwell RK3440K circular saw to anyone’s tool collection would be an outright welcome one and an asset you could always count on.
