Jay Kordich is the self-proclaimed father of juicing. He began a diet of raw juices as a result of a life-threatening illness. After his recovery, Jay embraced a diet of fruit and vegetable juices and began sharing what he learned all over the United States.
His first Juicer was advertised and sold on an infomercial in 1990. The Juiceman juicers made Jay Kordich famous, but he sold that enterprise and moved on to develop new products. His latest offering is the Juice for Life PowerGrind Pro Power Juicer. This juicer has power as the name suggests, but it also has versatility.
The PowerGrind Pro has an induction motor. This motor is guaranteed to not only be powerful with 3,600 RPMs, but quiet as well. The induction motor is cooler than your standard motor helping to maintain the integrity of your produce by protecting it from excess heat.
The word revolutionary is used a lot in regards to the PowerGrind Pro. This juicer has received several patents for its hybrid technology. This technology lets you use this machine as an extracting juicer which is perfect for common fruits and vegetables like apples, carrots and oranges. It can also be used as a masticating juicer or grinder. This is perfect for leafy greens, wheat grass, soy and even almonds.
Constructed of heavy duty surgical quality stainless-steel, the blades will grind the juice out of anything. When it is done extracting the juice, it deposits the pulp in a plastic receptacle. This receptacle can be lined with a plastic grocer bag for easy clean-up and disposal. The other removable pieces for the PowerGrind Pro are dishwasher safe further making clean-up easy.
You can also use the pulp in other recipes or simply as compost. Recipes are available in the included recipe book. There are dozens of how-to videos on the internet featuring Jay Kordich, but there is an instructional DVD included with the PowerGrind Pro as well. Jay also stands behind his product with a 3 year manufacturer’s warranty.

The majority of customers were pleased with their purchase of Jay Kordichs’ PowerGrind Pro. There are more than 30 comprehensive reviews on amazon.com for this juicer. The average rating is 4.2 stars with only two 1-star rating.
The most commonly used word by reviewers for this juicer was love. Everyone seems to love using it. There are a variety of different reasons why people buy juicers, and many of the reviewers were kind enough to share their purposes along with their review. This always makes it easier to decide whether or not a product is right for you.
The one point made by several reviewers is to read the instructions. Because Jay Kordichs’ PowerGrind Pro has two functions (grinding and extracting), you can’t just shove things into it like you would a blender or an extracting juicer. There were a few complaints about the unit getting bound up, but we suspect these users did not follow the directions, or watch the accompanying DVD.
Reviewers were also pleasantly surprised at how quiet the PowerGrind Pro was. One reviewer commented on how easy it was to hear Jay Kordich on his demo videos over the machine. A bonus feature we noticed as well when reviewing his YouTube videos.
Foam was another topic of discussion. Avid juicers pointed out that in juicing foam means air, and the more air in your juice, the less nutrients you are getting. Now there isn’t any documentation regarding how much nutrition (if any) is lost, so this notation should be taken with a grain of salt.
There were however, far more reviews that noted less air associated with Jay Kordichs’ PowerGrind Pro than with similar juicers. While there were one or two complaints about air, there were none about pulp from users who appeared to be using the unit properly. There was one reviewer that complained of pulp. This reviewer also complained about the unit binding up the first time they used it along with a slew of other difficulties that were not noted by any one else.
The pulp and air discussions may not even be an issue if you are purchasing this juicer just for the simple task of making juice. Let’s face it juice from an apple skin and all, will be healthier than the processed juice sitting on the shelf in your local grocer. We were only able to find one review that included making the almond/soy milks, and the customer was pleased with the result and happy to say goodbye to her nut bag necessary for making nut milks with a blender.
Jay Kordich calls himself the father of juicing, and it seems he certainly lives up to his name with the PowerGrind Pro. There is a definite learning curve (especially if you are familiar with juicing) associated with using this juicer. The overwhelming opinion is that if you are willing to take some time and watch a few of Jay Kordichs’ videos, you may just fall in love with this juicer too.
